About Maple North IT
Who I am
I am an IT Manager with over a decade of experience running production infrastructure. Not theoretical knowledge. Hands-on, break-fix, middle-of-the-night incident response experience.
I have managed environments with hundreds of users, handled security incidents that could have shut down businesses, and built disaster recovery plans that actually worked when things went wrong.
I started Maple North IT because I kept seeing the same thing: small businesses with 10 to 50 people who had no idea how exposed they were. Their IT was set up by whoever happened to be "the tech person" five years ago. Nobody had looked at it since.
The problem was never that these businesses did not care. They just did not have someone to tell them, clearly and specifically, what was wrong and what to do about it. That is what I do.

How I work
Direct language, not corporate fluff
If your backups are broken, I will say "your backups are broken." I will not say "your data resilience strategy presents an opportunity for improvement."
Specific findings, not vague warnings
Every recommendation in my reports includes what the problem is, why it matters, how hard it is to fix, and roughly what it costs. Numbers, not hand-waving.
Independent opinion, no upsell
I am not trying to sell you a managed services contract. I tell you what is wrong, give you a plan, and you decide who fixes it. Could be your team, an MSP, or me if you want ongoing help.
Built for small businesses
My recommendations are sized for your budget. I will never tell a 20-person company to buy a $50,000 SIEM. I tell you what actually works for your size.
